Asian handicap and Asian total - what is it in betting?
Let's figure out today what the Asian type of bets are - handicap and total. Also, such bets are also called quarter handicap and total. Initially, they were distributed in Asian bookmakers, hence the name, but now they are offered by bookmakers all over the world.
How Asian line bets are indicated?
Such bets are used mainly in football, but sometimes they can be found in other sports as well. The Asian handicap has two types of display:
First type: Asian handicap +0,25 и -0,25
Second type: Asian handicap(0; +0,5) и (0; -0,5)
In essence, the handicap +0.25 and the handicap (0; +0.5) are absolutely identical bets, they are simply written in the line in different ways. As well as -0.25 and (0; -0.5).
The same Asian total, it has two types of display in the line:
First type: Asian total TM2.25 and TL2.25
The second type, similar to the first: Asian total TM (2: 2.5) and TL (2; 2.5)
The first option is more common in Asian bookmakers, and the second is preferred by European and Russian bookmakers. Therefore, in the examples we will analyze exactly the second type, just remember that some bookmakers may have a different type of record.
What is the Asian handicap?
The smartest ones have probably already guessed what the matter is, for the rest we will explain in more detail. Traditional handicaps are in increments of half a goal: H (0), H (+0.5), H (+1), H (+1.5) and so on. The Asian handicap adds another value between these halves, which is why it is called the quarter.
That is, the Asian handicap (0: +0.5) is the average value between H (0) and H (+0.5). How is this calculated? Very simple. For each of these options, half of the bet amount is made. And each of these halves is calculated separately, depending on the result of the match.
For example, a bet on the Asian handicap H (+1; +1.5) of the Turkish national team in a match against Italians.
Half of the bet goes to H (+1) and half to H (+1.5). Thus, if the Italy team wins by two or more goals, both halves of the bet will lose. If the Italy team wins by one goal, we will receive a win in one half, and a refund in the second half.
Let's say the players have bet a thousand rubles. Then they will receive a payment of 500 x 1 + 500 x 1.66 = 1,330 rubles. If the Turkey team does not lose (a draw or a win), both halves of the bet will win, and the players will receive the full payment with odds of 1.66 (1,660 rubles).
What is Asian (quarter) total?
All the same - between the half values (TM1, TM1.5, TM2, TM2.5) intermediate, quarter values are added. Half of the bet goes for each total declared in the outcome list.
For example, a bet on “total less” (1.5; 2) for 2.44
Half of the bet goes to the total less (1.5), and half - to the total less (2). If 0 or 1 goal is scored in the match, both halves of the bet win and we get the full payment with the odds of 2.44. If 2 goals are scored (for example, a draw 1: 1) - half of the bet loses, the second will return. At a rate of 1,000 rubles, we will get back 500 rubles. If 3 goals or more are scored, then this is TM and the whole bet loses.
In general, the essence of Asian totals and Asian handicaps is to add intermediate outcomes between traditional handicaps and totals (TM or TL). In this case, the rate is divided into two equal parts and each such rate is calculated separately.
How Asian Handicap and Total are calculated in Express and Systems?
It's a little more complicated, but still, it's easy enough to figure it out in your head, you won't need a calculator. Let's say we made a multi bet, to which we added Asian total:
- Traditional TM (2.5) for 2.00
- Draw for 3.00
- Asian Total TM (2; 2, 5) for 2.00
- Total multiplier: 12
Here everything is the same as in single bets - the express bet is divided into two parts, on which half of the bet amount is placed. One express comes with the outcome of TL (2), and the second - with the outcome of TM (2.5). If 2 goals are scored in the match, then the first express will survive, but a return will be recorded for the Asian total (that is, odds of 1). The second express bet will lose.
If we bet 1,000 rubles on this express, then the first half will be calculated with the odds 2x3x1 = 6 х 500 = 3,000 rubles payouts, and the second bet will lose. If the players score 3+ goals, then both halves of the accumulator will win.
If there are several Asian handicaps and totals in one accumulator, as well as when betting on the express system, there are much more variations. You will need a calculator here. The number of options increases in proportion to the number of difficult outcomes in the lineup and can reach several tens or even hundreds. Therefore, for simplicity of calculations, it is better to bet on Asian handicaps and totals as single bets or add them to no more than one express bets.
